The description of our projects is not intended to be exhaustive but aims at highlighting our expertise by providing examples of on-going legal assistance which Michael Reason& Partners LLP has been delivering to its clientele.

1. Our current practice with UK and NZ resident individuals and entities is as follows:

  • Advising a UK expatriate with a substantial holding in a major food manufacturer and distributor based throughout the UK on structuring the receipt of distributions and asset protection trusts in NZ.
  • Advising a VIP UK-domicile dual UK and NZ resident on the holdings in a European group of companies, including BVI, UK and NZ.
  • Providing extensive legal assistance to a UK education institution recruiting students globally on its VAT structuring, dividend distribution, asset holding vehicle in the Far East region.
  • Advising a trustee of NZ trusts holding assets of a UK resident entrepreneur and his family – stakeholders of a UK educational institution.
  • Extensive legal assistance and a directorship of the trustee of NZ superannuation - UK QROPS fund.
  • Acting for a UK resident fund manager incorporated as a UK Limited Liability Partnership in its majority member’s dispute with the minority members.


2. Our practice with the BRIC countries has been as follows:

  • Structuring a UK private equity fund for a major Brazilian tour operator, including FSA authorisation.
  • Advising an international IT network hailing from its Brazilian operation, including corporate restructuring its South-American and European operations, M&A,  establishing the top UK-domiciled holding company.
  • Acting for a high net worth individual holding interest in UK and NZ family trusts being on the top of the multi-tier European structure with one of the largest oil operations based in Russia, including Fiduciary Conflict of Interests arising in the trusts, failure to follow directions to withdraw inappropriate instructions to third parties and failure to follow directions to resign as breaches of the terms of the trusts.
  • Acting and defending an Indian constructive trustee on her dispute in relation to her substantial real-estate located in London.
  • Performing due diligence and advising on setting up a NZ trust, including cross-border tax advice and double-jurisdictional legal support.
